Flamingo International reports a turnover worth 35 million euro for Q1 of 2007, in line with the estimates made by the retailer’s officials during the press conference organized this March, when they announced the financial results reported in 2006.

Over the last week, several people went to Flanco stores throughout the country, arguing that they had received messages on their telephones through which they were announced they could win a prize worth 500 USD from Flanco if they call back to sender. Moreover, the same message asked them to buy pre-paid card with different values. According to Flanco employees, this action started about a month ago. Throughout this time, they have received daily e-mails and telephone calls from the victims of the deceiving messages.

The financial results for 2006 presented by the Group Flamingo International show that the process of making the company’s activity efficient cost mare than initially estimated. The operational costs caused by the integration process of the Flanco retail chain in the Flamingo structures, meaning 9,6 million euro, alongside with the decrease of the revenues with 3,4 million euro, caused by the sales diminishing, increased the level of company’s lost funds to a total of 13 million euro in 2006.

Flamingo’s CEO, Jiri Rizek considers the It&C sector as being “one of the markets with the most important potential for Flamingo Group, with the capacity of doubling its volume in the next 3 years, and thus reaching a value of over 500 million euro, only for the retail sector.”

Flamingo restructuring process shows first result: an increase with 11,3% in 2006 for the number of computers sold and a market share of 12,2% The last IDC study on Romanian computers market shows that in 2006, Flamingo managed to maintain the leadership on the computers market for the fourth year in a row. The Romanian retailer managed to increase with 11,3% for the number of sold units, comparatively with 2005.

20 Feb. 2007 In 2007, Flamingo officials estimate sales 10 times larger for LCD’s and Plasma TV’s than in 2006
 

The decrease in the prices of LCD and Plasma TV equipments made from January 2007 another “December” as sales volume for the Flamingo International retail chains. The decrease in the custom taxes for this type of equipments from 42,5% to 0% for products made in European Union and from 42,5% to 14% for those produced outside European Union made the sales reported by Flamingo International retail chains Flanco World, Flanco, Flamingo Computers and Future Shop have similar numbers with the most successful month of the year as sales values, December.
